Rachel Alexandra is Haskell bound

The connections of RACHEL ALEXANDRA (Medaglia d'Oro) announced Tuesday the

next race for the classic-winning filly will be the Haskell Invitational (G1) at

Monmouth Park on August 2. They opted for the Haskell over Sunday's Delaware H. (G2)

against fillies and mares.

"Rachel Alexandra is progressing well after her stakes-record victory in the

(June 27) Mother Goose S. (G1). She is in top condition. If this preparation

continues, our target is to race in the Haskell Invitational in about three

weeks," said Jess Jackson, owner of Stonestreet Stable. "We are all looking

forward to seeing this great athlete perform again against both colts and

fillies."

The $1 million Haskell Invitational, which is expected to include

Belmont S. (G1) winner Summer Bird (Birdstone), will be contested at 1 1/8 miles.

Rachel Alexandra will be seeking her eighth consecutive stakes victory.

In addition, there are only 11 more days for bidding on Rachel Alexandra's

training halter worn preparing for her record Preakness S. (G1) victory, the

first by a filly in 85 years in racing's middle jewel of the Triple Crown. The

Kendall-Jackson/Rachel Alexandra Running Auction is a five-month-long charity

auction taking place on www.kj.com. Proceeds will be donated to The V Foundation

to aid in cancer research.
