RUNWAY DOLL, a 13 1/2-length debut winner at Saratoga in July 2016 but unraced since last April, brought $145,000 from Springhouse Farm on Wednesday at the third session of the 2018 Keeneland January Horses of All Ages Sale. Sporting Hip No. 977 from the ELiTE Sales consignment, the four-year-old filly by Majestic Warrior was offered as a racing or broodmare prospect.
Out of French Line, by Boundary, Runway Doll is a half-sister to stakes winner Song Warrior and the stakes-placed Yessirmychickadee. French Line is the second dam of Grade 2 winners Conquest Panthera and Happy Like a Fool, and this is also the family of Grade 1 winners Nine Keys, Silver Voice, and French Colonial.
The only other horse to bring six figures at the session was Hip 904, a short yearling colt by Violence. He sold to Summers Street Stable for $130,000 and was offered by James Herbener Jr., agent.
The March 12 Kentucky-bred is out of Ms Arch Station, by Arch, and hails from the family of Healthy Addiction and her daughter My Sweet Addiction, both Grade 1 winners.
On Wednesday, 236 horses sold for $3,442,700, up less than 1 percent over last year's corresponding session which grossed $3,415,900 from the sale of 197 head. The session average dipped 15.9 percent, from $17,340 to $14,588, while the median declined 8.8 percent, from $8,500 to $7,750.
After three days, 651 horses have sold for $31,744,700, a rise of 27 percent over this point last year when 581 horses had sold for $24,989,500. The average is up 13.4 percent, from $43,011 to $48,763, but the median is down 15 percent, from $20,000 to $17,000.
