TRACK BANDIT PREVIEWS

Grade 2 winner DAYDREAMING (A.P. Indy) returns on Saturday at Gulfstream Park

in the $100,000 Sabin H. (G3). The Shug McGaughey-trained bay will be making her

four-year-old bow in this nine-furlong test, but ended last season on an

up-note, scoring in the Top Flight H. (G2) and Indiana Breeders' Cup Oaks (G3).

She has the ability and the BRIS numbers to be a winner in her 2005 debut, but

is listed at 8-5 on the morning line, so we'll try to beat her.

PAMPERED PRINCESS (Indian Charlie) finished second in the Stage Door Betty H.

at Calder on New Year's Day before returning to take the Banshee Breeze S. over

this track by a hard-fought head. The Marty Wolfson charge earned 103 Speed and

Late Pace figures for that victory and has drawn the rail post, which has been

sending runners to the winner's circle at a 21 percent rate recently. The bay

mare has the ability to take this one under Eddie Castro and offers good value

at 4-1 on the morning line.

ADOBE GOLD (Touch Gold) almost got to her stablemate Pampered Princess in the

Banshee Breeze, but just missed at the wire after angling out for the stretch

run. The four-year-old chestnut also earned a 103 Speed rating, but topped her

rival by five points when receiving a 108 Late Pace figure. That was by far her

best effort to date, and the Wolfson trainee has been working well to prepare

for this one, getting a bullet half-mile in :48 on Monday. Adobe Gold could

continue to improve and challenge for the win here with Javier Castellano

aboard.

ISOLA PIU BELLA (Chi) (Rich Man's Gold) rounded out the top three in the

Banshee Breeze and we think the Todd Pletcher-conditioned five-year-old could

do the same here, if not threaten for the top spot. She was making her first

U.S. start in the Banshee Breeze and was named 2003 champion three-year-old in

her native Chile after scoring in four Group 1s. The bay mare will have John

Velazquez, who has guided five Pletcher trainees to victory in the last two

weeks, in the saddle, and Isola Piu Bella could just better the duo's already

exceptional win percentage.

If Daydreaming brings anywhere near her sophomore form into Saturday's race,

the rest of the field is probably running for second. Jerry Bailey in the irons

just adds to her chances of success in this spot.

PATH OF THUNDER (Thunder Gulch) ran second by a neck in the grassy Princess

Mora S. in her stakes debut in November, then captured the Golden Pond S., which

was moved from the turf to the good dirt, by that same margin in mid-December.

The bay filly will be making her four-year-old bow here off that race and might

need one to be competitive against these. VALIANT DANCER (Valiant Nature) will

be making her stakes debut here and could be out of her class.
