Sacred Kingdom in, Utmost Respect out of Golden Jubilee

Last updated: 6/15/09 7:00 PM

SACRED KINGDOM (Encosta de Lago) on Monday was supplemented into a

star-studded cast for Saturday's Golden Jubilee S. (Eng-G1) at Royal Ascot, for

which 22 sprinters remained at the five-day stage. Conditioner Ricky Yiu paid

the £45,000 fee to add the six-year-old, who

was last seen winning the Singapore International Sprint (Mal-G1) at Kranji May

17, for the six-furlong contest.

Richard Fahey did not declare Utmost Respect (Danetime). With the ground set

to be quick at the Royal meeting, the May 13 G2 Duke of York S. (Eng-G2) and

Greenlands S. (Eng-G3) winner will wait for Newmarket's July Cup (Eng-G1).

"I just feel the ground won't be there for him, so I decided not to be

tempted into it," Fahey told PA Sport. "The horse is in great order. The plan

was to run in either York or Ireland, we ran him in both, so we're giving him a

little break and then he'll go for the (July 10) July Cup."

Among the international brigade are South Africa's J J THE JET PLANE (Jet

Master) and Australia's SCENIC BLAST (Scenic [Ire]) and TAKEOVER TARGET (Celtic

Swing), while the "Greek freak" IALYSOS (So Factual) and 2008 Golden Jubilee

hero KINGSGATE NATIVE (Mujadil) are other notables remaining.

Ascot's Clerk of the Course Chris Stickels was preparing to water the track

Monday evening after the forecasted rain was delayed.

"We haven't had any rain in this area," Stickels told PA Sport. "The chances

of now getting rain are becoming slimmer as the evening progresses from what I

can understand from the latest forecast. I am planning to put four millimeters

on the whole course. The forecast for tomorrow is for no real showers, bright

and sunny, temperatures of 23 degrees (Celsius) and light winds. We'll see how

the track rides but I'd be happy to water in the week if necessary."
