Santa Anita canceled racing for the third straight day on Monday due to

unsatisfactory conditions with its Cushion Track racing surface.

A heavy rainstorm hit the area over the weekend, forcing officials to cancel

racing on Saturday and Sunday because of drainage problems with the all-weather

surface.

A special meeting by the California Horse Racing Board will take place by

teleconference on Tuesday to consider moving some of Santa Anita's dates to

Hollywood Park. The meeting will begin at 11 a.m. (PST).

Santa Anita's Cushion Track has been plagued by drainage problems in recent

months. The main track was closed for much of December for repairs, only

reopening for training on December 22. The Winter/Spring meet began on December

26.

Santa Anita remained open for simulcast wagering on Monday with free general

admission.

No racing is scheduled at Santa Anita on Tuesday and Wednesday. Live racing

is scheduled to resume on Thursday.
