SWEET CATOMINE (Storm Cat) looks to make it five graded stakes in a row when

she faces six other sophomore fillies in Sunday's $300,000 Santa Anita Oaks

(G1). The champion two-year-old filly is on many Kentucky Derby (G1) watch

lists, but trainer Julio Canani hopes to continue her winning ways

for now against fellow filly rivals. Sweet Catomine has successfully completed the Santa Anita

Oaks distance of 1 1/16 miles three times in a row, recording a BRIS Speed

figure of 106 when taking the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) two back. Without

another graded stakes winner in the field, we find it hard to go against this

classy filly. Corey Nakatani gets back on board after missing her last start, a

win in the Santa Ysabel S. (G3).

Drawn in post 2 just to the outside of our top choice is MEMORETTE (Memo

[Chi]), who was second most recently in the Las Virgenes S. (G1) and perhaps

could have won had jockey Kent Desormeaux not lost the whip in the stretch. He

retains the mount today for conditioner William Currin, and Memorette, who

finished third in the 1 1/16-mile Oak Leaf S. (G2) over this track last October, poses

the biggest threat for the likely post-time favorite.

SHE SINGS (Petionville) has blossomed over the winter, getting caught in deep

stretch to finish second in the Sun Devil S. in her 2005 bow and then romping by

10 lengths in the Arizona Oaks. The latter was run at the Santa Anita distance

and this shipper may get up for part with the right trip.

CHARMING COLLEEN (Charismatic) made a commendable effort in her

three-year-old debut, finishing third in the Las Virgenes. The dark bay has the

pedigree to run all day and we like her chances of hitting the board.

CREAM DONUT KEITH (Lion Hearted) is undefeated in two career outings,

breaking her maiden and then taking an optional claimer by a combined 12 3/4

lengths. Both of those contests were run at six furlongs, and we'll watch to see

how the extremely speedy Doug O' Neill-conditioned miss fares.

FEEL THE HEAT (Unusual Heat) recorded her only career victory when breaking

her maiden two back going 5 1/2 furlongs in the slop here in Arcadia. We'll need

to see more out of the bay. GUARANTEED VICTORY (Smart Strike) enters in much the

same way, having won for the first and only time two back in a maiden event. We'll have to let the

uncoupled O' Neill trainee beat us.
