Sequalo filly tops Wednesday session

The Magic Millions Yearling Sale continued its run Wednesday on the Gold

Coast with the sixth of eight sessions. The day's top price was the A$85,000

paid for a Sequalo filly out of Can She Can Can (St Covet). Lot 1106, consigned

by Racetree, is from the same family as Group 1 winner Star Shiraz (Sequalo).

The winning bid came from Star Shiraz's trainer, Rex Lipp.

During Wednesday's session, 122 yearlings sold for A$2,023,000. The session

average was A$16,582. Magic Millions managing director David Chester was happy

with the results.

"The quality, well- presented yearlings today were the subject of strong

interest from an excellent buying bench," Chester said. "I expected an average

price of about A$15,000, so to beat that is great."

Chester was less excited with the clearance rate of 68.2 percent.

"I obviously would like that to have been much higher than it was, but I'm

confident a number more of these yearlings will sell before we wrap up on

Friday," he commented.

The seventh session of the auction gets underway Thursday.
