The 4-5 favorite Kobe's Back

launched a bid around the far turn as well and got within a length of the

eventual winner at the top of the stretch but that was as close as he would get.

Shared Belief kicked it into another gear when feeling the pressure and left his

rivals behind in the stretch as he drew away under a brisk hand ride. He crossed

the wire in 1:22 for the seven-furlong test over the Cushion Track as the 3-2

second choice and rewarded his backers $5 for the win.

Shared Belief remained

undefeated in just two career starts and banked $60,000 for the win to increase

his lifetime earnings to $76,200.

Kobe's Back got up for

second, while Brother Solider settled for third. Papa Turf and Golden Dynamo

finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

"We're still looking at the (Grade 1, $750,000 CashCall) Futurity

(on December 14) with him," said

John Sadler, who trains Kobe's Back. "He just doesn't have that much early

speed. It wasn't going to matter today. The winner was the winner. My horse ran

a good race, but I'll be licking my wounds for a couple of days."

Bred in Kentucky by Pam and

Martin Wygod, Shared Belief is out of the Storm Cat mare Common Hope, who

produced Grade 3 scorer Little Miss Holly. The dark bay's grandam is Sown, who

produced Grade 1 winner Key Phrase, and his third dam is Grade 3-placed Bad

Seed. His female family also includes Grade 2 victor Half Ours and stakes winner

Yankee Gentleman, both of whom are sires, as well as the 1999 Canadian champion

three-year-old filly Gandria.
