Sir Percy to enter stud at Lanwades

Four-year-old SIR PERCY (Mark of Esteem [Ire]) will join the stallion roster at Kirsten Rausing's Lanwades Stud

in 2008. Unbeaten at two, the bay captured the Dewhurst S. (Eng-G1) and Vintage S.

(Eng-G2) and was named Britain's champion juvenile. He came back at three to

finish second in the Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1) before his victory in the Epsom Derby

(Eng-G1) and was

the top-rated sophomore at 11-14 furlongs in Britain.

"He was an exceptionally

precocious two-year-old, probably the best I've ever trained," Marcus Tregoning

said. "Percy was an outstandingly tough and healthy individual, with a

tremendous constitution and an eye-catchingly athletic walk."

Sir Percy retired

with a record of 10-5-1-0 and earnings of £1,149,695 for owners Victoria and

Anthony Pakenham.

at Lanwades," Rausing said. "With his outstanding pedigree and racing record, he

represents marvelous value and opportunity for domestic and international mare

owners."

Sir Percy will be syndicated and stand at a fee of £8,000.
