ONE HOT WISH (Bring the Heat), who set a new world record for 4 1/2 furlongs

when breaking her maiden at Keeneland, is the 8-5 favorite on the morning line

for Wednesday's $150,000 Sorrento S. (G3) at Del Mar, and the Wesley

Ward-trained filly is our top choice.

One Hot Wish broke like a shot and set fractions of :21 2/5 and :43 before

completing the 4 1/2-furlong distance in :48 4/5 over the Polytrack at Keeneland,

which is similar to the Polytrack at Del Mar. The chestnut filly drew off

through the stretch to win the maiden special weight event by a widening 12 1/4

lengths and the runner-up, Lantana Mob (Posse), came back to break his maiden by

open-lengths at Churchill Downs and most recently won the Tyro S. at Monmouth

Park. In the aftermath of her debut, One Hot Wish was added to the Keeneland

April Two-Year-Old in Training Sale, but she did not meet her reserve and was

retained by her connections.

One Hot Wish was under consideration for the CTBA S. on July 20, but Ward

opted to skip that race and point her toward this graded event. Note that One

Hot Wish breezed five furlongs in 1:00 2/5 over this surface on July 19, one day

before the CTBA. One Hot Wish is an exceptionally fast filly and lures the

hot-riding Joe Talamo aboard. She is the one to beat.

TASHA'S MIRACLE (Harlan's Holiday) was a good-looking, 2 1/2-length winner as

the odds-on favorite going 5 1/2 furlongs on Cushion Track at Hollywood Park

last out. The John Sadler trainee dueled for the early lead from the inside,

drifting out turning for home, then edged clear in the stretch while drifting in

late before completing the distance in 1:03 4/5. Tasha's Miracle sold for a

respectable $125,000 as a yearling and was a $325,000 RNA at Barretts. She must

be respected for a top-three placing.

AMERICAN COUNTY (Gibson County) broke her maiden by 5 3/4 lengths going 4 1/2

furlongs at Churchill Downs in her third career start and most recently was a

decent third to the undefeated Rated Fiesty (Exchange Rate) in the six-furlong

Debutante S. (G3). American County finished a close third in her debut, and

second to Rated Fiesty in her next start, on Keeneland's Polytrack. She could

add value to the vertical exotics.

SET PLAY (Van Nistelrooy) offered a bid three wide on the turn, took a short

lead in midstretch, then diminished late while drifting in, finishing third in

the six-furlong Landaluce S. on Cushion Track at Hollywood Park in her latest.

The chestnut lass, who sold for $105,000 at OBS March, figures to be forwardly

placed and has some upset potential for the meet's leading trainer, Peter

Miller.

CARBELLA (Cartwright) exits

off-the-pace victories in the Wine County Juvenile Filly S. and Juan Gonzalez

Memorial S. in Northern California. She will have to improve as well as adjust

to Polytrack in this spot. FOXY DANSEUR (Mr. Greeley) came alive and finished a

close second over this surface in her most recent outing. Despite still being a

maiden, she could earn a small share for conditioner Christopher Paasch.

PRINCESS SUSAN M (Jump Start), ANOTHER ALEYNA (Out of Place) and ELSIE JO

(Richter Scale), would all be a surprise. Princess Susan M gamely defeated

high-level maiden claimers for Miller with the addition of blinkers in her

latest. Another Aleyna broke her maiden first out and was second in the

Cinderella S. However, she comes off a distant eighth-place effort in the

Landaluce. Elsie Jo broke her maiden over this surface for a $50,000 tag in her

debut and, like the ones above, may not enjoy the class jump.
