St Leger winner Sixties Icon may try Canadian International

Last updated: 9/10/06 7:21 PM

Paul and Susan Roy's St Leger (Eng-G1) winner SIXTIES ICON (Galileo [Ire])

could be in line for a tilt at the October 22 Canadian International (Can-G1),

trainer Jeremy Noseda revealed on Sunday. While Saturday's classic hero could

yet be supplemented for the October 1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-G1) at

Longchamp, connections are considering the alternative of the 1 1/2-mile

Woodbine contest as well.

"It was a class performance and he never looked in any danger of defeat,"

Noseda said of Saturday's score. "He picked up nicely and appeared to win a

shade comfortably. Without any question, he continues to improve.

"It is a great result for the yard and rewards the team at home for all their

hard work. It is also great for the owners Paul and Susan Roy, who are big

supporters of the yard. We will get the horse back home and assess whether we

will have a crack at the Arc, for which he would have to be supplemented. The

other possible race in my mind would be the International at Woodbine in late

October."

Sixties Icon also owns a score in the Gordon S. (Eng-G3), and prior to that,

was third in the King Edward VII S. (Eng-G2) at Royal Ascot.
