Staraco leads the way at Arqana

Arqana's Autumn Sale got off to

a lively start Monday when the opening session witnessed the

sale of the three-year-old colt STARACO (Loup Solitaire) for

110,000. Runner-up in the listed Prix Policeman at

Cagnes-sur-Mer, listed Prix Maurice Caillault at Saint-Cloud and listed Prix de Saint-Patrick at Deauville this term, the Bernard

Goudot-consigned Hip No. 93 is out of Linorova (Trempolino) and is a

descendant of the high-class broodmare Luth de Saron (Fr) (Luthier) and was

purchased by Paul Nataf. He will race for Enrico Ciampi,

part-owner of this year's Prix du Jockey-Club (Fr-G1) hero Lawman

and will remain in training with Goudot.

On an afternoon with a

mainly jumps bias, Highflyer Bloodstock paid 100,000 for Hip

117, Nicolas Clement's three-year-old colt PIERROT LUNAIRE (War Chant), whose

dam is the listed winner and multiple Group/Grade 2-placed Playact (Ire) (Hernando

[Fr]) and who hails from the extended family of

champion Afleet Alex.

"This horse-in-training market has been

very busy as the 80-percent clearance rate shows," Arqana's

President Eric Hoyeau commented.
