Stardom Bound calls it a career

Unfortunately, Stardom Bound never reached the winner's circle again. Shipped

east to the Rick Dutrow barn, she finished third as the 3-5 favorite in the

Ashland S. (G1) and was sidelined for more than seven months. She resurfaced in

the Gazelle S. (G1) at Aqueduct last November, but did not relish the dirt and

crossed the wire in fifth, suffering her first unplaced finish.

Back home on the Pro-Ride at Santa Anita, Stardom Bound hinted that she may

have been coming around with a closing runner-up effort in the El Encino S. (G2)

in January, but it was not to be. She could do no better than seventh in the La

Canada S. (G2) in her follow-up. Freshened for nearly two months, she lined up in what turned out

to be her career finale in the aforementioned allowance.

Stardom Bound was bred by John Youngblood in Kentucky. Sold for $50,000 as a

Keeneland September yearling, she commanded $375,000 as an OBS March

two-year-old in training. She was produced by the Grade 2-placed stakes winner

My White Corvette (Tarr Road).

Stardom Bound will begin the next phase of her life as a broodmare by

visiting another IEAH Stables celebrity, champion and dual classic winner Big

Brown.
