Stormy Atlantic filly brings $325,000

Jay Em Ess Stable paid the top price of $325,000 for a filly by Stormy

Atlantic at Tuesday's session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Eastern Fall

Yearling Sale in Timonium, Maryland.

Consigned by Welker Sales Agency, agent, the bay filly is the first foal out

of stakes-placed Princess Birdeye (Indian Charlie), a half-sister to

stakes-placed Coach Mike (Toolighttoquit). Cataloged as Hip No. 332, the

Kentucky-bred lass is from the same female family as multiple stakes winner and

$416,828-earner Jamaican Rum (Exemplary Leader).

Jay Em Ess Stable also purchased the top-priced colt. Hip 562, a colt by Lion

Heart, sold for $170,000. Consigned by Paramount Sales, agent, the bay colt is a

half-brother to stakes-placed Rubiano's Twin (Rubiano). The Kentucky-bred is out

of Twin Induction (Slewacide), a half-sister to 2004 Las Virgenes S. (G1)

heroine A. P. Adventure (A.P. Indy).

On Tuesday, 194 yearlings sold for $4,615,600, an 11.2 percent increase

compared to the same session last year when 221 yearlings sold for $4,152,300.

The average price jumped 26.6 percent, from $18,789 to $23,792. The median

price, however, dropped 4.3 percent, from $11,500 to $11,000. There were 53

horses reported as not sold, compared to 106 a year ago.

The three-day auction concludes Wednesday, beginning at 10 a.m. (EDT).
