Street Sense returning to Kentucky for 2014 breeding season

Street Sense, who remains the only horse to ever win both the Breeders' Cup

Juvenile and the Kentucky Derby, will be repatriated to stand at Darley's

Lexington, Kentucky, establishment in 2014. The nine-year-old son of Street Cry

had stood at Darley in Japan in 2013.

"Street Sense received tremendous support from top breeders during his first

five seasons here in America and also last year in Japan," Charlie Boden,

Darley's head of sales in America, commented.

"His progeny on the track, as we had hoped, have had a wonderful year and his

nine 2013 stakes winners including Grade 1 winners Aubby K and Sweet Reason,

will ensure he will cover a quality book of mares next season."

Street Sense is currently North America's leading third-crop sire by progeny

earnings with more than $4.3 million, a figure contributed to by performers such

as the aforementioned Spinaway S. (G1) winner Sweet Reason and Humana Distaff

(G1)winner Aubby K. Among third-crop sires, his number of 2013 stakes winners is

second only to fellow Darley stallion Discreet Cat and he shares top honors with

him by number of stakes wins.

Street Sense has quickly positioned himself as the leading son of fellow

Darley stallion Street Cry at stud, who is now himself emerging as an important

sire of sires. Two other Street Cry stallions have had notable success of late

-- Street Boss has sired 2013 King's Bishop (G1) victor Capo Bastone, and Street

Hero was recently represented by Gabriel Charles, the winner of the first

division of the Del Mar Derby (G2).
