Tapit colt tops Fasig-Tipton Florida Sale at $1.8 million

Hip 56, by two-time Horse of the Year Curlin, was gaveled down to Sheikh

Mohammed bin Khalifa al Maktoum. The March 26 Kentucky-bred was offered by

Wavertree Stables (Ciaran Dunne), agent.

Produced by On a Roll (A.P. Indy), a full sister to stakes winners Ender's

Sister and Ender's Shadow, the colt counts as his third dam multiple Grade 2

winner Fit for a Queen. On a Roll has already reared the stakes-placed Free

Money (Street Sense).

The Curlin colt worked one furlong in :10 2/5 at the under tack show. Like

the Uncle Mo colt, he was a successful pinhook having brought $430,000 at

Keeneland September.

Jamie McCalmont, agent for M.V. Magnier, secured the Pioneerof the Nile colt,

who was consigned by Hartley/De Renzo Thoroughbreds, agent, and toured the ring

as Hip 94.

The April 3 Kentucky-bred, reared by Faith in Me (Mr. Greeley), counts as his

third dam Peruvian champion La Chaposa (Ups), whose offspring included Grade 1

winners Chaposa Springs (Baldski) and You and I (Kris S.).

The colt worked one furlong in :10 1/5 at the under tack show and had

previously brought $230,000 at Keeneland September.

A total of 66 juveniles sold on Wednesday for $21,590,000, a rise of 7.4

percent over last year when 89 two-year-olds brought $20,095,500. The $327,121

average increased 44.9 percent over the 2015 average of $225,792, while the

$250,000 median rose 92.3 percent over last year's $130,000 median.
