Taptowne scratched from Dirt Mile
Taptowne, a 15-1 chance on the morning line for the $1 million Breeders' Cup
Dirt Mile, was scratched from the race Friday morning. The reported cause was a
bruised foot.
Trained by Tim Glyshaw, Taptowne was a stakes winner at Mountaineer in August
and also finished second in the Oaklawn Handicap, Prairie Meadows Cornhusker
Handicap and Ack Ack Handicap this season. The gray was expected to show speed
from post 1.
Glyshaw said the five-year-old son of Tapit would now target the handicap series
at Oaklawn Park where he'll be based this winter.
All horses in the Dirt Mile will move in one post position following
Taptowne's withdrawal.
