Tattersalls resumes Tuesday

After a three-day break, selling resumes at Tattersalls for

Part 2 of the October Yearling Sale with a marathon week in

prospect. The 1,209-lot catalog is 39 percent larger than its 2005 equivalent

and buyers will have no shortage of choice. The sale is graded through the week,

with the best lots on offer Tuesday and Wednesday.

Among the standouts on paper is Lot No. 1123, a Cape Cross (Ire)

half-sister to this season's Falmouth Stakes (Eng-G1) winner Rajeem (Diktat). She looks sure to show a good advance on the

20,000gns she cost vendor Keith Harte as a foal.

Lot 779 has had an important recent pedigree update. The Killeen Castle Stud

offering is a full-brother to the recent Cheveley Park S. (Eng-G1) 

heroine Indian Ink (Indian Ridge).

Lot 1116 is a Fraam half-brother to last season's Lowther S. (Eng-G2) winner Flashy Wings (Zafonic) consigned from Norman Court

Stud. Among the dearer pinhooked lots is Lot 713, a UAE-bred

Selkirk filly

who cost 80,000gns as a foal and is offered from Peter Stanley's

New England Stud.

Lot 791, a Diesis (GB) colt out of Mill Guineas

(Salse), was bought for $140,000 at Keeneland in January and

reappears from Timmy Hyde's Camas Park Stud.

"Everyone agrees

it's a good catalog," said Tattersalls marketing director Jimmy

George on Monday. "It is bigger than last year's and there is

sure to be value for money for buyers at all levels of the

market. The Epsom Derby (Eng-G1) winner Sir Percy (Mark of Esteem [Ire]) was bought out of

this sale for 16,000gns two years ago and top two-year-old

Strategic Prince (Dansili [GB]) also came from this sale so

the quality is there for all to see."

The sale runs Tuesday through

Saturday. On Thursday and Friday there are sessions after racing.
