Santa Anita Park announced Monday that Richard Tedesco has been hired as

track maintenance superintendent. Santa Anita's main track is currently in the

midst of a $10 million renovation project which will result in an all-new

synthetic Cushion Track surface.

Tedesco brings 43 years of racing industry experience in planning, layout and

maintenance of 44 racetracks and training centers. His experience includes

serving as track and turf superintendent at Hollywood Park, as well as track

superintendent at Los Alamitos.

"As we embark upon a new era in track maintenance with the installation of

Cushion Track, we feel very fortunate that someone of Richard's caliber is

available," Santa Anita President Ron Charles said. "He comes very highly

recommended."

Tedesco will assume his duties effective immediately. Santa Anita's Cushion

Track will debut with the beginning of the Oak Tree meeting on September 26.
