Tenacious among six stakes at Fair Grounds

Also in the lineup are Mountaineer Mile winner Voodoo Storm, who ran seventh

in the Claiming Crown Jewel last time; Hip Four Sixtynine, who captured the

restricted Sam's Town at Delta Downs most recently; and the trio of Afford,

Ground Transport and Flashy Sunrise, all of whom are past allowance winners over

the Fair Grounds strip.

Grand Contender and Voodoo Storm were also cross-entered in the $75,000

Buddy

Diliberto Memorial Handicap at about 1 1/16 miles on the turf. Favoritism is

likely to fall on King David, the 2012 Jamaica Handicap winner who captured a

September 29 allowance at Churchill following an eight-month layoff.

Other graded stakes veterans in the lineup include Skyring, whose last

on-the-board finish was his 24-1 upset of the Dixie at Pimlico in May; Daddy

Nose Best. a multiple stakes winner at Remington Park earlier in the year; Derby

Kitten, who should relish a return to grass after a disappointing showing in the

Hawthorne Gold Cup; and Mr. Vegas, a three-time winner over the local sod.

Also in the mix are grass stakes winners Compliance Officer and Pure Tactics.

Marchman, recent wire-to-wire winner of the Woodchopper over fellow

three-year-olds, is presently on the also-eligible list.

Multiple stakes winner Great Mills has won four of six outings over the Fair

Grounds lawn, including a December 1 allowance by two lengths. Other leading

contenders include Grade 3 winner Mico Margarita, who finished third in the

Thanksgiving Handicap last time; Expecting Cash, runner-up in the Woodford at

Keeneland in October; Strong Impact, who took the $100,000 Fiddler's Patriot at

Saratoga in July; and Channel Marker, who makes his stakes debut after allowance

scores at Saratoga and Keeneland this year.

D'cajun Cat, who romped by more than five lengths in his Churchill debut in

June prior to a disappointing fifth in that track's Bashford Manor, returns to

action in the $60,000

Sugar Bowl,

a six-furlong dash for two-year-olds. The main threats among his five rivals

figure to be Albano and Be Well, last-out maiden winners at Fair Grounds and

Churchill, respectively.

She's Offlee Good, who captured the formerly prestigious Arlington-Washington

Lassie two back, tries dirt for the first time against five juvenile filly

rivals in the $60,000

Letellier

Memorial at six furlongs. In what looks like a competitive race on paper,

she will have to get by Lone Star stakes winner Closing Report and the last-out

maiden winners Toni's Hollyday, Divine Beauty, and Street Story.
