Teofilo on course for Guineas

Last updated: 4/23/07 7:57 PM

Unbeaten TEOFILO (Galileo [Ire]), Europe's top two-year-old last year, is

back on course for the Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1) at Newmarket May 5,

according to Jim Bolger. The three-year-old, winner of the National S. (Ire-G1)

and Dewhurst S. (Eng-G1) in 2006, was uncomfortable during a morning jog last

week and seemed uncertain for the classic, but his County Carlow-based trainer

announced to assembled press Monday that the homebred was over the setback.

"This is his first trot since the hiccup," Bolger explained as Teofilo was

put on display. "He'll canter on Wednesday, do a half speed on Thursday and then

work on the weekend and on Tuesday. As long as all goes well, he will be on the

plane to Newmarket. I have no worries whatsoever about him."

A perfect five-for-five to date, Teofilo has not been out since besting Holy

Roman Emperor by a head in the October 14 Dewhurst.
