Three Valleys heads overflow in Del Mar Breeders' Cup

English co-highweight THREE VALLEYS (Diesis [GB]) will seek his first U.S.

stakes victory as the 119-pound highweight in Sunday's $350,000 Del Mar

Breeders' Cup H. (G2). An overflow of 14 were entered for the grassy one-mile

affair, but only 10 will be allowed to start. A Group 3 winner and multiple

Group 1-placed in Europe, Three Valleys was sent to Bobby Frankel's shedrow last

year and finished a close third to stablemate Leroidesanimaux (Brz) (Candy

Stripes) when making his stateside debut in last November's Citation H. (G1).

The chestnut colt exits a victory over optional claiming/allowance rivals in his

four-year-old bow earlier in the Del Mar meet.

Multiple Grade 2 hero WHILLY (Ire) (Sri Pekan) is the likely pacesetter.

Unplaced in the Arlington Million (G1) last out, the Doug O'Neill trainee cuts

back to a much more favorable distance and will be ridden by Felipe Martinez.

Grade 2 conqueror TOASTED (Hennessy) is another contender. The Laura de Seroux

trainee will be making his four-year-old bow and displayed an affinity for the

Jimmy Durante Turf Course last season when finishing second by a neck in the Del

Mar Derby (G2).

Grade 3 victor JUST WONDER (GB) (Hernando [Fr]) will break from the rail

under a 115-pound impost that includes Mike Smith. Next in post position order
