Toasted set for Thunder Road

Last updated: 2/6/06 6:37 PM

Grade 2 winner TOASTED (Hennessy) will carry top weight of 120 pounds in

Wednesday's $75,000 Thunder Road H. at Santa Anita. The one-mile grass event

attracted a quality field of 11, including Grade 2 turf winner SENOR SWINGER (El

Prado [Ire]) and MINISTER ERIC (Old Trieste), who has not started since winning

the 2005 San Fernando Breeders' Cup S. (G2) on the main track.

Trained by Laura de Seroux, Toasted split foes near the wire before finishing

a good third to Badge of Silver (Silver Deputy) and Atlando (Ire) (Hernando [Fr])

in the San Gabriel H. (G2) on New Year's Day. The five-year-old is looking to

return to the winner's circle for the first time since capturing the 2004

Arlington Classic S. (G2). Jose Valdivia Jr. retains the mount.

Other contenders include Del Mar Derby (G2) runner-up TEDO (Ger)

(Sternkoenig), the winner of the second and faster division of the Sir Beaufort S.

on opening day; multiple stakes winner JUNGLE PRINCE (Sir Cat), a close third in

the grassy Morvich H. (G3) in October; and stakes-placed TERROPLANE (Fr)

(Verglas [Ire]), who exits a sharp allowance victory at this distance.
