Trujillo fractures wrist at Monmouth
Jockey Elvis Trujillo suffered a fractured right wrist in a spill in Friday's
7TH race at Monmouth and, according to agent Cliff Collier, will undergo surgery
next week. Trujillo was riding Carson Hall (Carson City) in a turf allowance
when he lost the stirrups entering the clubhouse turn and was unseated.
"They'll wait for the swelling to go down and perform the surgery next week,"
Collier said. "We'll find out after that exactly how long he'll be out, but I
think it will be six to eight weeks."
Earlier this year, Trujillo had been sidelined for three months with an
injury to the same wrist.
Trujillo, who had been based in Kentucky, shifted his tack to Monmouth midway
through the meet, but had already moved into the top five in the jockey
standings with 61 winners.
