Twelve entered in wide-open Oklahoma Derby
A field of 12 sophomores will try their luck on Sunday at Remington Park in the
$400,000 Oklahoma Derby (G3). The 1 1/8-mile contest drew a well-matched
group and the top three on the morning-line are separated by very little.
Desert Dynamo (Desert Party) (5-2) is seeking his first stakes victory in the
Oklahoma Derby, while Mobile Bay (Lone Star Special) (7-2) will be making
his first start outside of his native state of Louisiana following a win in the
Super Derby (G2). Souper Colossal (War Front) (9-2) is hoping to break a case of
seconditis that includes the West Virginia Derby (G2) and Smarty Jones S. (G3)
in his past two.
