A Lido Palace (Chi) colt and Out of Place filly each brought a winning bid of

$40,000 to top Tuesday's Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Open Yearlings sale. Featuring

primarily New York-breds, the inaugural one day sale at the Humphrey S. Finney

Pavilion in Saratoga Springs, New York provided a market for 113 youngsters.

Seventy were sold, bringing an aggregate $680,500, and the average price was

$9,721.

Hip No. 547, a bay colt by Chile's Horse of the Year and three-time U.S.

Grade 1 winner Lido Palace, was purchased for $40,000 by Joseph Aquilino, agent.

Consigned by McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds, agent, the Kentucky-bred colt is
