Total handle in Virginia rose to a record $192,509,054 in 2006, a 17 percent

increase from the $163,449,670 wagered in 2005. The significant growth was

fueled by account wagering, which jumped 122 percent in 2006, along with a full

year of operation of all nine Colonial Downs' satellite wagering facilities.

Traditional wagering on Thoroughbred racing totaled $128,547,643 in 2006, 10.7 percent

increase from the previous year.

The 2007 Colonial Downs meet runs from June 15 through August 7. The

highlight of the 40-day meet is the $1 million Virginia Derby (G3) on July 21.
