Ward unsure of plans for All Squared Away

"It was fantastic. I'm very happy," trainer Wesley Ward said Sunday morning about

winning Saturday's Grade 3 Lexington with 70-1 longshot All Squared Away.

Ridden by Julio Garcia, the Bellamy Road gelding won the 1 1/16-mile race by 1

1/2

lengths over favored Summer Front in his first start for Ward.

The Keeneland spring meet's leading trainer with six wins, Ward trains All Squared Away

for the Altamira Racing Stable of California-based trainer Peter Miller and Bob

Rodriguez's Wire to Wire Racing Inc. Miller sent him All Squared Away after the

gelding finished sixth to Went the Day Well in the Grade 3 Spiral at Turfway Park on March 24.

Ward, who trained in California for 17 years, said he's known Miller since he

was an exercise rider. Racing All Squared Away in the Lexington was

Miller's idea, Ward said.

"I knew he was doing really good," Ward said about the gelding. "I was really

confident that he would have won for a $40,000 claiming (price) or something; he

was doing that good. Sometimes when you get horses doing good they can do

anything."

Ward did not know what is in All Squared Away's future.

"I know he'd like to sell him," Ward said about Miller. "He's a working man, so

any time you get a commodity that's hot, he'd like to sell. So I don't know how

long I'll have the horse."

Ben Colebrook, assistant to trainer Christophe Clement, said Waterford Stable's

Summer Front was fine the morning after the race, which marked his 2012 debut

and his first start on Polytrack.

"He didn't get the best of trips," Colebrook said about the War Front colt.

"We'll take him to New York and come up with a plan."

Trainer Mike Stidham was pleased with the performance by third-place finisher,

Terry Hamilton's Hammers Terror.

"I thought he ran a super race," he said. "I thought Robby (Albarado) rode him

well. He loves this track."

Last fall, Hammers Terror set Keeneland's Polytrack record of 1:24.31 for the

Beard Course distance of seven furlongs and 184 feet. Stidham said the Artie

Schiller colt came out of the Lexington in good order and would

continue his campaign on Polytrack or turf at Arlington Park.
