Winter storm forces Northeastern tracks to cancel

Live racing has been canceled at Aqueduct, Penn National and Laurel Park for

Friday as yet another major snowstorm hits the Northeast. Aqueduct officials

have also already called off the Saturday card, though the facility will be open

for simulcasting.

The Jamaica, New York, facility was closed for simulcasting on Friday, as was

the NYRA Racing Office. Double entries will be taken on Saturday for next

Wednesday's and Thursday's programs. On Wednesday, post time changes to 1 p.m.

(EST).

The Stymie S., originally scheduled to be run on Saturday, has been moved to

March 7.

Laurel and Pimlico remained open for simulcasting on Friday despite Laurel

calling off its live racing. This is the seventh card canceled this year as snow

forced the central Maryland track to cancel live racing on January 30 and

February 5, 6, 10, 11 and 12.

Laurel is expected to be open Saturday for live racing. The 10-race card

includes the $70,000 Miracle Wood S. for three-year-olds.

Friday night's nine-race live program at Penn National was canceled as

Central Pennsylvania endures its third major snowstorm in February.
