Woke Up Dreamin retired

Michael Pegram's WOKE UP DREAMIN (Holy Bull) has been retired after a

ninth-place finish in the Vosburgh S. (G1). The two-time Grade 2 winner had been

pointed toward the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) at Belmont Park on October 29, and

Pegram said that a quarter crack, which had been plaguing the horse since a

victory in the True North Breeders' Cup H. (G2), was the cause of the bay

horse's poor performance on Sunday.

Woke Up Dreamin retires with a record of 16-6-1-3 and $578,475 in earnings

through four years of racing for conditioner Bob Baffert. The five-year-old

became a key contender for this year's Breeders' Cup Sprint after winning the

True North Breeders' Cup and Smile Sprint H. (G2). Woke Up Dreamin is out of the

Storm Cat mare Dreamlike, who is out of two-time champion turf mare and

nine-time Grade 1 winner Flawlessly (Affirmed).

Pegram purchased Woke Up Dreamin for $130,000 at the 2001 Keeneland September

Yearling Sale.
