Work for a Cure makes a statement as Oratory's initial winner

Grade 2 winner ORATORY (Pulpit) was represented by his first winning

offspring on Friday when his juvenile son Work for a Cure posted an easy

five-length victory in the 1ST race at Colonial Downs with jockey James Vail in

the saddle. Trained by John Salzman, the Maryland-bred chestnut completed the 5

1/2-furlong maiden special weight in 1:04 1/5 on the sloppy, sealed, track to

earn his first win in his third lifetime try. Work for a Cure is out of multiple

stakes-placed Delta Danielle (Lord Avie), making him a half-brother to 2004

Dubai Golden Shaheen (UAE-G1) hero and highweight Our New Recruit (Alphabet

Soup).

The lightly raced Oratory finished second in his career debut at Aqueduct,

then returned to break his maiden at that track by 1 1/2 lengths in the winter

of 2005. He added an allowance/optional claimer to his line next out by 4 1/4

lengths, then suffered his only other loss when runner-up in an allowance.

Making his first foray outside of Aqueduct and trying stakes company for the

initial time, the bay logged the last race of his career in the Peter Pan S.

(G2) at Belmont Park, scoring an easy 4 3/4-length victory for trainer Tom

Albertrani. He retired with a 5-3-2-0 line having accumulated $189,000 in

earnings.

Oratory is out of four-time stakes winner and Grade 1 runner-up Arrested

Dreams (Dehere), herself a daughter of 1984 Hollywood Oaks (G1) queen Moment to

Buy (Timeless Moment).

The seven-year-old Oratory stands for a $5,000 live foal fee at Country Life

Farm near Bel Air, Maryland.
