Trainer Todd Pletcher sent out Kentucky Derby (G1) contender COWTOWN CAT

(Distorted Humor) to work in company with Grade 1 queen

MAGNIFICENT SONG (Unbridled's Song) over Keeneland's Polytrack on Saturday.

The pair jogged around the clubhouse turn before getting down to business,

with Cowtown Cat to the outside of his workmate. He completed five furlongs in

:58 3/5, the second quickest of 33 workers at the distance, finishing about a

length in front of

his stablemate, who was clocked in :58 4/5.

Cowtown Cat posted splits of :24 3/5 and :36, getting his last quarter in :22

3/5. He galloped out six furlongs in 1:11.

"That's as good as a horse can work right there," Pletcher said. "He went

very well and finished up strong. We wanted a solid work seven days out (from

the Derby). He went very, very well."

Winner of the Illinois Derby (G2) and Gotham S. (G3), Cowtown Cat will have

Fernando Jara aboard for the May 5 Derby.

In other Derby news:

El Camino Real Derby (G3) winner BWANA BULL (Holy Bull) and multiple stakes

victor TEUFLESBERG (Johannesburg) were both scratched out of Saturday's Derby

Trial at Churchill in favor of the Kentucky Derby. Bwana Bull, who has the

graded earnings to get in the field, will work at Churchill on Monday,

according to trainer Jerry Hollendorfer.

Teuflesberg is still on the line to get in the Run for the Roses and galloped

at Churchill after the renovation break for co-owner and trainer Jamie Sanders.

The bay colt is scheduled to work Sunday.

"I am hoping for the best, but I think I have a pretty good shot at getting

in the race," Sanders said. "He is doing so well right now, but if for some

reason he does not get in I would look at the Woodford Reserve (Turf Classic

[G1]) or supplement to the Crown Royal American Turf (G3) to get a race in him

before the May 19 Preakness (G1)."

Trainer Doug O'Neill reported that his three Derby contenders -- COBALT BLUE

(Golden Missile), GREAT HUNTER (Aptitude) and LIQUIDITY (Tiznow) -- were

"fantastic" after their Friday works and are on target for next Saturday's main

event. The three were hand walked in the ring close to O'Neill's barn and grazed

on Saturday.

"Legwise, they're all cold and tight and look beautiful," he said.

"Churchill, here we come."
