Fasliyev filly tops session at Goffs
The Goffs February Sale continued Tuesday with a Fasliyev filly topping the yearling session at
€145,000. Offered by Tom and Cathy Burns's
Victor Stud as Hip No. 438, the half-sister to the Prix de l'Opera (Fr-G1) heroine Kinnaird
(Dr Devious [Ire]) was knocked down to Denis Sheehy.
"She was expensive, but she comes from a very good family, and I waited all
day to get her," Sheehy commented. "She has been bought on behalf of Denis and
Catherine O'Flynn's Old Carhue Stud, but we have yet to decide whether she will
be reoffered or kept to race."
The bay filly is out of Ribot's Guest (Be My Guest).
Earlier in the session, Rathbarry Stud acquired a notable Moyglare blueblood
when paying €120,000 for Hip 329, a Selkirk
colt from the female family of Irish One Thousand Guineas (Ire-G1) winner Trusted Partner
(Affirmed), the dam of 2002 Matriarch S. (G1) heroine Dress to Thrill (Ire) (Danehill). Alberto
Panetta signed the docket.
"He is a lovely colt and quite possibly one of the nicest sons of Selkirk
that we have seen," he said. "He also comes from a very good family and will be
reoffered in the autumn, but we have yet to decide where that will be."
Shortly after, Dermot Cantillon went to 68,000 for Jockey Hall Stud's Hip
336, a Rock of Gibraltar (Ire) half-sister to the 2005 Phoenix S. (Ire-G1)
runner-up Amadeus Mozart (Mozart [Ire]). This is also the family of sire Gothenberg and
Japanese champion Cesario (Jpn) (Special Week).
"She's a very nice filly and comes from a family that I have been trying to
get into for a while; I was under bidder on her dam when she was sold out of
training," Cantillon explained. "She will be reoffered in the autumn."
Selling for the final session of part one of the sale starts Wednesday.
