First starter, first winner for Trust N Luck

Last updated: 4/18/07 4:01 PM

Grade 1 winner TRUST N LUCK (Montbrook) was represented by his first winner

as a freshman sire when his two-year-old daughter Wonderful Luck captured

Wednesday's 1ST race at Keeneland. Trained by Steve Asmussen and ridden by

Garrett Gomez, Wonderful Luck made a sweeping move on the outside turning for

home before drawing off to a three-length victory, running 4 1/2 furlongs in :50

2/5 on Keeneland's Polytrack. Vinery, who stands Trust N Luck, purchased the

Kentucky-bred chestnut filly as a weanling for $75,000 at the 2005 Keeneland November Breeding

Stock Sale. Wonderful Luck, who was making her first start, is the first foal out of the winning Capote mare No

Small Wonder.

At three, Trust N Luck won the Fountain of Youth S. (G1) by 5 1/4 lengths in

his seasonal debut, and followed that up with a runner-up effort in the Florida

Derby (G1). The chestnut finished fourth in the Lexington S. (G2), then was

sidelined before reappearing in the Amsterdam S. (G2) at Saratoga, where he finished

third in what turn out to be his final career start.

He won four of eight starts at two, including the In Reality

division of the Florida Stallion Stakes.

Trust N Luck, a male-line descendant of the great Buckpasser, retired with a record of 12-5-3-1,

$727,484.

The handsome seven-year-old stallion stands at Vinery near Summerfield,

Florida, for a 2007 fee of $5,000, which is due when the foal stands and

nurses.
