Double-digit prices were the order of the day in the three Fair Grounds turf stakes on Saturday, as Cavalry Charge ($72.60), She Can’t Sing ($51), and Pyron ($41.40) all recorded their first stakes victories.

After the disqualification of strong favorite Just Might in the Duncan F. Kenner S., the upsets continued in Saturday’s turf stakes at Fair Grounds. Pass the Plate got up to pay $19.20 in the Marie G. Krantz Memorial, and Forty Under furnished $34.80 in a Col. E.R. Bradley S. thriller.

Along with three dirt stakes anchored by the Lecomte (G3), Fair Grounds offers a trio of $100,000 turf stakes Saturday making for a total of six on a terrific 14-race “Road to the Derby Day.”

Fair Grounds standouts Just Might and Chess Chief were among the shining stars during Sunday's stakes-packed card at the New Orleans oval.

Before the inaugural Gun Runner S. and Untapable S. for aspiring Kentucky Derby (G1) and Oaks (G1) candidates, Fair Grounds will stage four stakes on the terrific Sunday, Dec. 26 card.
