Kentucky Derby (G1) runner-up HARD SPUN (Danzig) blew out through the stretch

under jockey Mario Pino at Delaware Park Wednesday in preparation for his date

with destiny in the 132nd running of the Preakness S. (G1) at Pimlico.

"We let him ease down the lane a bit," trainer Larry Jones said. "We galloped

him a mile, then let him breeze about a quarter of a mile."

Jones said he did not time Hard Spun.

"He probably went in 24 (seconds) and change," the trainer said. "For him, it

was more or less an open gallop."

After cooling out, Hard Spun arrived by van at Pimlico about 1:30 p.m. (EDT).

Mario Pino, the winningest jockey in Maryland history, will ride Hard Spun in

the middle jewel of the Triple Crown.
