Kentucky Derby (G1) hero STREET SENSE (Street Cry [Ire]) arrived at Pimlico

shortly before 4 p.m. (EDT) after flying in from Louisville, Kentucky, on

Wednesday. A short while later, the first horse to capture both the Breeders'

Cup Juvenile (G1) and Kentucky Derby drew post 8 in Saturday's $1 million

Preakness S. (G1). A field of nine will contest the 132nd running of the middle

leg of the Triple Crown.

Trained by Carl Nafzger, the Derby winner is the 7-5 favorite on the morning

line with regular jockey Calvin Borel. Derby runner-up HARD SPUN (Danzig), third-placer CURLIN (Smart Strike) and sixth-placer CIRCULAR QUAY (Thunder Gulch) will

also join him in the line-up at Old Hilltop. Hard Spun was installed as the 5-2

second choice and will break from post 7 under Mario Pino. After setting the

pace in the Derby, the Larry Jones-trained colt could sit off the speed to his

inside on Saturday.

Arkansas Derby (G2) winner Curlin, who suffered his first defeat when

finishing a troubled third at Churchill Downs, will start from gate 4 with Robby

Albarado, and Louisiana Derby (G2) victor Circular Quay got post 3 with John

Velazquez. The colts are listed at 7-2 and 8-1, respectively, on the morning

line.

New shooters include Hutcheson S. (G2) winner and Santa Anita Derby (G1)

runner-up KING OF THE ROXY (Littleexpectations); Federico Tesio S. king XCHANGER

(Exchange Rate), who is the only runner in the field with a win at Pimlico; the

Nick Zito-trained C P WEST (Came Home), who exits a runner-up finish in the

Withers S. (G3); and Derby Trial S. winner FLYING FIRST CLASS (Perfect Mandate),

who is expected to set the pace for trainer D. Wayne Lukas, who will be pursuing a record

sixth Preakness victory.

There is a chance of showers on Friday with a high in the mid-60s, but the

forecast is good for Preakness Day. Partly sunny and breezy conditions are

expected with a high of 73.
