Interactif likely solid favorite in Kent
After recording three runner-up finishes this year, INTERACTIF (Broken Vow)
garnered his first win of the season when capturing the National Museum
of Racing Hall of Fame S.
(G2) at Saratoga on August 13. The Todd Pletcher-trained colt will look to make
it two straight on Saturday at Delaware Park when he lines up for the $250,000
a 1 1/8-mile turf test that has drawn a field of nine sophomores.
A multiple Grade 3 winner on turf last year, Interactif rounded out his
juvenile campaign with a close third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G2) at
Santa Anita. He opened 2010 with a nose second in the grassy Hallandale Beach S.
at Gulfstream and then switched to the main track for his next three starts,
recording a second and a fourth in the San Felipe S. (G2) and Blue Grass S.
(G1), respectively, before a sixth-placed effort in the Belmont S. (G1).
The bay colt returned to his best surface in the July 17 Virginia Derby (G2),
checking in a respectable second behind Paddy O'Prado (El Prado [Ire]), and
gamely scored by a nose in the aforementioned Hall of Fame. Fernando Jara will
pick up the mount on the 122-pound highweight.
Hall of Fame runner-up GRAND RAPPORT (Grand Reward) will also invade from New
York for the Kent. An allowance winner when making his turf bow two starts back,
the Gary Contessa pupil will retain the services of the hot-riding Ramon
Dominguez. American Derby (G2) victor WORKIN FOR HOPS (City Zip), who exits a
third behind Paddy O' Prado in the Secretariat S. (G1), also merits
consideration. The Michael Stidham-conditioned gelding owns a 4-1-1 mark in
seven turf attempts.
LENTENOR (Dynaformer), a full brother to the ill-fated Kentucky Derby (G1)
winner Barbaro, will make his second attempt against graded rivals. Sidelined
following a fourth in the Florida Derby (G1), the Michael Matz trainee is
eligible to improve off a third versus allowance/optional-claiming rivals over
the local turf on August 24.
