Laurel Park cancels racing after opener
Laurel Park officials decided to cancel live racing after the completion of Thursday's 1ST race as heavy snow blanketed the racetrack. Snow started falling about an hour prior to post time and by the 1ST race visibility on the track had become diminished. The 1ST race was conducted without incident as Blondies Miracle (Cimarron Secret) ($12.60) outdueled Noble Valley (Swear by Dixie) in a stretch drive, but with another 1 1/2 inches of snow expected at the central Maryland track within the hour, president and general manager Chris Dragone announced the cancellation. "We appreciate the jocks going out for the first and giving it a try," Dragone said. Live racing is expected to resume Friday afternoon with a nine-race card.
