Milanov tops first day
Tchavdar Milanov topped the standings after the first day of the $836,750
Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship at Bally's Las Vegas.
The Golden Gate Fields qualifier had a bankroll of $103. Milanov won $10,000 for
being the first day leader.
Susie Grensing of Lexington, Kentucky, finished second with a bankroll of
$101.20 and collected $7,500. Bill Handleman of Neptune, New Jersey, was third with $99.60, pocketing
$4,000.
Each contestant makes 15 mythical $2 win and place wagers each day, with
eight mandatory races and seven optional plays. A field of 254 players are
competing for the $400,000 first-place prize.
