North Light to stand at Adena Springs

Last updated: 9/16/05 4:12 PM

NORTH LIGHT (Danehill), last year's Epsom Derby (Eng-G1) winner, has been

retired and will enter stud at Frank Stronach's Adena Springs Farm near Midway,

Kentucky. The four-year-old bay owns a 7-3-3-0 record and

$2,029,433 in lifetime earnings.

"Every time you pick up the race results, you see young sons of Danehill

siring top winners all over the world," Stronach said. "North Light is the only

champion and Group 1 winner by Danehill standing in the United States, and his

dam is a multiple stakes producer and international champion, who beat colts

winning a Group 1 race. We expect him to be very popular."

Campaigned for all but one of his starts in the United Kingdom, North Light

was named English highweight last season after taking the Derby as well as Dante

S. (Eng-G2). The Sir Michael Stoute trainee also ran second in the Irish Derby

(Ire-G1) and filled out that same position in his only start of 2005, the

Brigadier General S. (Eng-G3). His only start outside of the United Kingdom came

while making his final start as a three-year-old in the Prix de l'Arc de

Triomphe (Fr-G1), where he ran a close fifth.

North Light is out of multiple highweight and Group 1 winner Sought Out

(Rainbow Quest). His stud fee will be announced at a later date.
