Oath to stand in India

Last updated: 10/11/06 8:11 PM

Goresbridge's two-day October Sale featured the sale of the 1999 Epsom Derby

(Eng-G1) winner OATH (Fairy King) to Hugo Merry. According to Racing Post,

the bloodstock agent acted through the new sales company's managing director

Martin Donohoe to secure the 10-year-old for 205,000. The former Thoroughbred

Corporation's colorbearer, consigned by Ballyglasane Stud, will head to India to

the Maharajah of Idar's Prattap Stud. Oath, who had stood at David Stack's

Coolagown Stud, provided a major boost to the County Kilkenny-based auction.

"Oath has been bought for the Maharajah of Idar's Prattap Stud in India,"

Merry told the Post. "His sire Fairy King has been quite successful as a

sire of sires in India, with one example being Burden of Proof. The Maharajah

has been a long-standing client, and I have bought several broodmares for him at

Goffs over the years."
