Private Terms pensioned

Grade 1 winner PRIVATE TERMS (Private Account) has been pensioned from stud

duty, Claiborne Farm announced Tuesday. The 21-year-old stallion originally

stood at Northview Stallion Station in Chesapeake City, Maryland, before being

relocated to Claiborne Farm near Paris, Kentucky, for the 1996 breeding season.

Private Terms has sired 21 stakes winners and the earners of more than $24

million from 14 crops of racing age. He is best known as the sire of millionaire

Grade 1 winners Soul of the Matter and Afternoon Deelites. Soul of the Matter,

from his first crop, won the 1994 Super Derby (G1). Afternoon Deelites, from his

second crop, won the 1994 Hollywood Futurity (G1) and the 1995 Malibu S. (G1). They

earned $1,502,818 and $1,061,193, respectively.

During his racing career, Private Terms won 12 of 17 starts and earned

$1,243,947. Owned by Locust Hill Farm and trained by Charles Hadry, the dark bay won nine black-type events, including the 1988 Wood

Memorial (G1) and Gotham S. (G2).

Private Terms is a half-brother to four stakes winners as well as the dam of

multiple Grade 1 winner Coronado's Quest (Forty Niner). He is out of the winning

Bold Ruler mare Laughter, a half-sister to the ill-fated champion Ruffian

(Reviewer) and Grade 2 winners Icecapade (Nearctic) and Buckfinder (Buckpasser).

He was bred in Kentucky by Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Janney Jr.
