Team Valor Stables and Robert Wilson's ADDED EDGE (Smart Strike) rated well

off the pace for much of Sunday's $125,000

Razorback Breeders' Cup H (G3) at Oaklawn

Park. Turning for home, however, jockey Luis Quinonez took his mount five wide

and when the chestnut saw running room, he took it. The duo picked off horses

one by one in the stretch, prevailing by a neck over the front-running Mauk Four

(Boston Harbor) at the wire to stop the clock in 1:43 4/5 for the fast 8 1/2

furlongs. Absent Friend (Runaway Groom) was three-quarters of a length back in

third.

The Dale Romans-conditioned winner returned $7.40, $4.60 and $2.80 at 5-2 on

top of the $99.60 exacta and the $565.80 trifecta. Mauk Four, off at 23-1, paid

$14.40 and $6.20 while Absent Friend was worth $4.20. They were followed under

the line by Clays Awesome (Awesome Again), River Mountain Rd (Deputy Commander),

The Lady's Groom (Runaway Groom), Separato (Victory Gallop), Intelligent Male

(Ride the Storm), Gigawatt (Wild Again) and post-time favorite Purge (Pulpit).

Bred in the Bluegrass State by Gulf Coast Farms Bloodstock LP, Added Edge was

voted champion two-year-old colt in Canada in 2002. The five-year-old improves

his mark to 19-8-2-5 with earnings of $552,356, including previous victories in

the Nashua S. (G3) and the Silver Deputy S. Out of the multiple stakes-winning Sweet

Nostalgia (Mr. Redoy), he has an unraced two-year-old half-brother named Congo

King (Horse Chestnut [SAf]).
