Fusao Sekiguchi's FUSAICHI ROCK STAR (Wild Wonder) moved to the fore after

the opening quarter-mile and was never seriously challenged en route to a score

in the $147,000

San Vicente S. (G2) at Santa Anita on Sunday. Trained by Bob

Baffert and piloted by David Flores, the gray broke well from his rail spot and

took over through a large opening on the rail, setting splits of :23 1/5, :46

2/5 and 1:10 1/5 before completing the seven furlongs on the wet-fast track in 1:22 2/5. Sent

off as the 7-1 longest shot in the four-horse field, the colt paid $17 and

$5.20, while topping the $27 exacta ($1).

Don't Get Mad (Stephen Got Even), who trailed the field for much of the

contest, flew home late to gain second just a length behind the winner. Place

was worth $4 for the 3-1 third choice. Kirkendahl (Menifee) and even-money

choice Consolidator (Storm Cat) completed the order of finish, following the

scratch of Roman Ruler (Fusaichi Pegasus).

Bred in the Sunshine State by Hannahill Farm Inc., the winner was purchased

as a 2004 Fasig-Tipton February two-year-old for $825,000.

He is the first foal produced from the unraced Grannies Feather (At Full

Feather), and has a two-year-old full-sister named Bliss Fit.
