Sequalo filly brings A$230,000 at Magic Millions

A filly by Sequalo was the top-priced horse Sunday as the Conrad Jupiters

Magic Millions Yearling Sale resumed after a two-day break. New South

Wales-based owner Jim Douros went to A$230,000 to secure Lot No. 1137, from the

draft of Lyndhurst Stud Farm, agent. The filly was produced by the winning

Princess Potter (Potter McQueen) and is a full sister to the stakes-placed Sammy

Sequalo.

Gold Coast-based horseman Jamie Nielsen was also busy Sunday, picking up 11

quality youngsters for his new stables at a cost of A$567,500. That included the

day's second highest priced horse, a colt by Show a Heart for A$180,000.

Consigned by Epic Farm, Lot 1109 was produced by the winning Our Teacher's Pet

(Knowledge).

Also high up among the buyers was American pinhooker John Brocklebank. The

Utah-based horseman is in the process of assembling a draft of prospects for

October's Magic Millions Horses in Training Sale on the Gold Coast. Brocklebank

purchased four yearlings, adding to his purchases last week which almost topped

A$1 million.

"This is my first time in Australia, and I've been amazed with how wonderful

everything thing is," Brocklebank said. "The people here are incredible and the

horses are first-class. I'm hoping to be able to get a few more yearlings

(Monday) and then put together an outstanding draft of two-year-olds for the

ready to run sales here at the Gold Coast."

Brocklebank's purchases are headlined by a colt by first-season sire Fastnet

Rock who was acquired for A$500,000 last week.

"He's a wonderful yearling -- the best colt of the sale in my opinion," he

noted. "He will be the type of colt that should attract the serious buyers to

the sale in October."

Sunday's fifth session saw 171 horses sell for A$5,518,000, an average of

A$32,269. The sixth session of the sale is set for Monday.
