Sis City romps her way to favoritism
One 10 1/2-length win later and SIS CITY (Slew City Slew) became the 5-2
favorite by the end of Pool 3 of the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager. A total of
$11,711 was wagered on the bay lass by the time the Future Wager closed.
Trained by Richard Dutrow, Sis City easily dominated her rivals in Saturday's
Ashland S. (G1) at Keeneland with a 10 1/2-length victory. As
impressive as that race was, it merely validated her 16-length romp in the Davona Dale S. (G2) at Gulfstream Park in her sophomore debut. From her past
three races Sis City has won by a combined 30 1/4 lengths.
Despite owner Marty Wygod saying she wouldn't run in either the Kentucky
Derby (G1) or Kentucky Oaks (G1), champion SWEET CATOMINE (Storm Cat) was still
wagered down to the second favorite at 6-1. The Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies
(G1) winner finished fifth in the Santa Anita Derby (G1) on Saturday as the
even-money favorite.
Ashland runner-up RUNWAY MODEL (Petionville) was the only other listing bet
down to single-digit odds. Winner of the Golden Rod S. (G2) and Alcibiades S.
(G2) last season, the dark bay filly closed at 8-1
SHARP LISA (Dixieland Band), winner of the Las Virgenes S. (G1) on February
12, was listed at 11-1, the same as the all other three-year-old fillies
interest, though the latter had more more money wagered on it.
A total of $49,445 was wagered into Pool 3 of the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager.
