Straight Line suffers shin bruise in Swale

Iroquois S. (G3) winner STRAIGHT LINE (Boundary) suffered a shin bruise in

Saturday's Swale S. (G2) at Gulfstream Park and will miss some training.

"He hurt himself going into the turn and he eased himself back,"

said trainer

Harvey Vanier about Straight Line, who was making his three-year-old debut in

the seven-furlong Swale. "The doctor says he should get over it quickly. He'll need a

little time off. The doc says maybe a week to 10 days."

Straight Line injured a hock in his stall soon after winning the Iroquois at

Churchill Downs last November. The dark bay colt returned to training in January

with an eye toward the spring classics.

"I've got to get to work on this horse now and see how long it's going to

take," Vanier said. "He never bucked his shins as a two-year-old, and this isn't

a bucked shin. It's just a bruise. We'll know more after a little bit of time."

Jockey Brice Blanc eased Straight Line in the final furlong of the Swale. The

pair finished 41 lengths behind Swale winner Lost in the Fog (Lost Soldier).
