Tattersalls February begins Thursday

Tattersalls' one-day February Sale begins a busy 2007 at the Newmarket

auction venue on Thursday with a 329-lot catalog offering horses in most

categories.

Pick of the broodmares is likely to be the European Sales Management offering

Lot 53, FUREAU (Ferdinand), a 12-year-old in foal to Lando (Ger). Her pedigree

received a boost in October when her daughter Floriot (Monsun) won last year's

Premio Lydia Tesio (Ity-G1) in Rome. Lot 52, five-year-old MEDORA LEIGH (Swain

[Ire]), should also have her admirers when appearing from Marc de Chambure's

Haras d'Etreham. In foal to Red Ransom, she is a half-sister to last year's Prix

Saint-Alary (Fr-G1) winner Germance (Silver Hawk). She sold for just 4,200gns at

last year's Tattersalls February Sale and brought 55,000gns at the

December Sale.

The yearling section includes a quartet offered for Laureldean Stud from

Paddy Kelly's Ballybin Stud. Among the yearlings are Lot 78, a Montjeu (Ire)

half-sister to four winners; Lot 77, a Danehill Dancer colt out of listed-placed

Littleton Arwen (Bahri); and Lot 76, a first-crop Oasis Dream (GB) colt out of

Group 3-placed Finity (Diesis [GB]).

Juddmonte is one of several major breeding operations consigning and its

offerings include TINTED VIEW (Distant View), Lot 214, a three-year-old out of

Gombeen (Private Account), a half-sister to Danehill. Lot 215, ECLECTIC MIX

(Zamindar), is a half-sister to Cheveley Park S. (Eng-G1) heroine Prophecy

(Warning [GB]).

The horses in training with recent form include Lot 252, ANOTHER GLADIATOR

(Danzig), a four-year-old who landed an all-weather handicap at Lingfield no

Wednesday for trainer Kevin Ryan. Lot 179, HIGH COMMAND (Galileo [Ire]), is a

four-year-old with smart form for trainer Ed Dunlop.

"It's a decent catalog with some quality weanlings and mares, including

Fureau, the dam of last season's Premio Tesio winner Floriot," Tattersalls

Marketing Director Jimmy George said. "There are also some useful fillies and

horses in training and it's a good varied catalog."
