Ten late nominations to Triple Crown

Ten three-year-olds were late nominees to the 2007 Triple Crown, bringing the

overall number to a record 460 nominees to the three classic races.

The Triple Crown begins with the 133rd running of the Kentucky Derby (G1) on

May 5 at Churchill Downs and will be followed by the 132nd running of the

Preakness S. (G1) on May 19 at Pimlico and the 139th running of the Belmont S.

(G1) on June 9 at Belmont Park.

The 10 latecomers, at a fee of $6,000, joined the 450 early nominees to

surpass the record of 454 set during the 2003 Triple Crown season when eight

late nominations were added to the early list of 446. The deadline for late

nominations was Saturday at midnight. The deadline for early nominations, at

$600 each, was January 20.

Heading the list of late nominees are CATMAN RUNNING (Tactical Cat), winner

of the John Battaglia Memorial S. at Turfway Park and probable for Saturday's

Illinois Derby (G2); COURT THE KING (Doneraile Court), fourth in the El Camino

Real Derby (G3) and probable for Saturday's Santa Anita Derby (G1); and ETUDE

(Include), winner of the Private Terms S. on March 24 at Laurel Park.

LOVE DUBAI (E Dubai), MEDICI CODE (Medicean) and REPTILIAN SMARTS (Include),

are slated to run in the Illinois Derby, Santa Anita Derby and Wood Memorial

(G1), respectively, on Saturday.

Love Dubai and Medici Code have been racing in England. CRISTOBAL (Aptitude)

won at first asking in France.

The complete list, in alphabetical order, are: Catman Running, Court the

King, Cristobal, DELIGHTFUL KISS (Kissin Kris), Etude, Love Dubai, Medici Code,

QUITE ACCEPTABLE (Acceptable), Reptilian Smarts, and VOW TO GREATNESS (Broken

Vow).
